Laptop comes pre-installed with MCE2005

It doesn't seem unethical to me, but I'm curious to know what MS's licence / law says.

There's a couple of issues:

First, unless you got the .ISO from Microsoft, or you created it from your own media, Microsoft would consider you in violation of their copyright for unauthorized copying of their software.

Second, downloading an .ISO of an operating system is not necessarily the safest thing to do nowadays.

Third, if you don't use your laptop's original OEM CDs, the MCE2005 won't Activate online. You'll have to call Microsoft to Activate it.

Actually, Windows MCE 2005 keys activate just fine over the internet.

Yeah, it should activate with no problem.

I have some OEM MCE discs and used them to "CLEAN" many Dell pc's that came with MCE pre-loaded. Keys worked every time!
