1) Wrong forum

Seriously the folks in the laptop forum are very helpful and friendly.

Also use a descriptive thread title, something like
Dell Inspiron 6000D vs 700m

2) I have owned both models and ultimately chose the 700m. It's all about size and weight. First I bought the 6000 which was great, make sure to upgrade to the WSXGA display it's worth every penny. If size isn't a concern then get the 6000 with dedicated video. Eventually I realized the 6000 is a beast in terms of size and weight and I regretted not getting the 8x DVD Burner. So I sold it and bought a loaded 700m which I am VERY happy with. It's recommended to upgrade to the 2 year warranty and 8 cell battery (which lasts around 4.5 hours).

Same comment on the $1400, and I'd choose the 700m for the same reasons that Ross outlined.

Where would you find a deal like that? Is there a web site or something?

The 6000 is a BIG laptop. Go with a 600m or a 700m.

Friend of mine has a 6000, I saw it a few weeks back, its nice with the widescreen, but its heavy and thicker then I think he (and I) was expecting. I have a 600m and love it, its the perfect size. Other friends of mine have the 700m. Its a nice little machine, not really my taste, its VERY small.

there is a reason he said 'suckers price,' but then again, reading comprehension never has been big around here
