which to get.....best bang for the buck and battery life? full size laptop ~7#s or so. 512MB ram / 30GB hdd / DVD-CDRW(or DVD-RW) / wireless b/g / 14" screen / floppy, preferbly one built in so i could boot from it / decent keyboard / not one of the apple notebook clones, one that is black

thanks

If you want a full-size desktop replacement (7+ lbs.), you should not concern yourself with battey life. A64 is good for desktop replacements.

If you need to travel with a laptop and battery life is important, you really should be looking for a much lighter machine (4lbs. or less) Pentium-M.

Very wise advice, WisdomTooth! And dodn't forget the biggest enemy of all notebooks - heat! Some of those performance beasts are real crotch toasters. 🙂

If battery life is ANY concern Centrino is the only way to go.

The HP DV1xxx series is awesome.

14" WS
