Does anyone know of cd-rw drives for laptops? I want to get a latptop with a cd-rw, but what kind is the best; removable or external drive? I haven't seen any laptops around with one built-in (except maybe acer). Anyone know of any?

my suggestion?
if you r laptop has USB, then get a standard 5" bay CDRW and get a IDE to SB converter external box... then you have a portalable CDRW that you can use on your laptop when needed....

Or he could just get a regular external USB burner...;)

Or a scsi PCMCIA card and a scsi burner.

Or a burner that comes with his laptop. :)

i would definitely recommend a usb version in this case. unless you can afford SCSI (adapter and all).

I would recommend the Mitsumi 4802TU or 4804TU (I think they have this) USB. I believe they write RAW. I believe Pacific Digital also rebadges the 4802TU. My Dad has one and is very satisfied with it.

Gateway's Solo 9300 does have a drive bay that can accomodate a CD-RW drive. Look for the drive to be available in a few months.

Your other option is USB, as others have noted in above posts.
