I never even had the log in screen pop up untill now i've had just had one user myself as admin. Well the only thing I did was editing the registy to try and turn my PC into a Dreamcast server really odd considering that I rebooted once before. Though I had troubles with the DC server and I went back and double checked everything. Closed out of the registy and rebooted for changes to happen and now im stuck with this >_<

Help appreciated to the maximum

Are you using the XP style Logon or the classic Win2K style logon? I assume the WinXP since you can type in any username in the classic logon.

Have you tried safe mode?

Have you tried "Last known good configuration" in the boot menu?

If none of that works you'll have to do a manual restoration of an early registry backup which will allow you to boot into safe mode and use system restore to go back before the problem occured. The procedure is spelled out here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545

This is a rather tedious procedure unless you use a BartPE boot disc.

Hope this helps...

I disabled the windows system restore feature >_> a little while ago, will what you say still work?

Do you remember when you installed XP?
Did you type in a password to the ADMINISTRATOR account?

At the logon, type USER: Administrator PASSWORd: ****whatever your password was****
If you didn't type in a password, just type 'adminstrator' and press OK

No. Why would you do that? If you disable system restore you might as well be running Windows 2000. If you're using a modern CPU then the performance hit is negligable.

In the future, if you continue running without System Restore I would STRONGLY recommend you make an occasional Ghost image of your boot partition or use a registry backup & restore utility like ERUNT.

Are you sure it's not just locking up? Have you tried CTRL-ALT-DEL to see if it lets you type in a user name and password?
