Laptop Bios locked. Anyway to reset it??

Im trying to reset a laptops bios. Its on an older Sony Vaio. I took it apart but no cmos battery. Is there away to clear it through software

Have you tried taking out the system battery for a few hours, then putting it back in? I don't know of a software way to do this.

You may want to try finding the latest bios, booting off a floopy, and flashing the newer version. It has worked for me.

ok. yea we took apart the whole thing and could not locate the battery. Have no clue where it could be. Anylink to a flash

Try to search for the maintenance manual.

Are there any jumpers or pins that have have CLR_CMOS , CLR_BIOS or something like that?

In my old Sony Vaio, the CMOS battery is accessible if you tear the whole thing to pieces. What you will find is a tiny 3 cell 4.5 volt Ni-cad in shrink tubing with a wire coming out of each end. It is in the right rear corner under the LCD hinge.
