I have a Compaq Presario 700z with mobile Athlon at 1.3Ghz, 256mb ram, WiFi card, etc. and I am worried that the charging system or the battery are fried. I know I had a bad AC adapter because I replaced it and got my functional laptop back. It WAS failing to charge the battery bec. the ACA was not delivering the amps. Once that problem was corrected, the battery (Lion, 3600mah) came into question bec. it would only run a DVD movie 40 mins before reaching 5% and hibernating. I ran it down with a DVD playing in a window under PowerDVD with all TSRs and WiFi card off. After charging up a new Lion battery and running it down and back up two cycles, I only get 1 hour, 20 minutes using the same rundown scenario.
😕Question: Is this a decent method to rundown test a battery? Doesn't playing a DVD use a lot of resources like clock cycles, drives, video, buffering, etc? Is 1:20 a decent DVD playback time for a new Lion battery in a Compaq Presario or do I investigate a new battery charger board?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
