This has just started happening recently, and maybe you guys know a bit more about it. I have an older laptop, it's about 4 years old. I still have the battery that came with the laptop, as it still holds an hour and a half charge. Now, just the other day, it started acting funny. The battery will not charge past 34%. At first I thought it may have been the memory effect batteries get, so I pulled the battery out and looked at the LED indicators on it. It says between 20% and 40% charge. So, I then ran this battery calibration program that compaq has for their laptops. The program will not charge the battery past 34%. So, do you think that getting a new battery would fix this problem? Or should I just not worry about it, because the laptop might be the issue? I really hate to spend $100 on an older laptop to find out the battery is not the problem. What do you guys think?
