laptop battery: OEM or aftermarket?

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum for this but it seemed closest...

I have a ThinkPad T23 with a battery that lasts a little less than an hour so I'd like to buy a replacement. I tried out the product at www.batteryrefill.com first. They claim to recondition old batteries to have a bigger capacity than the originals. I liked the idea because even new OEM batteries probably won't perform like new since they've been on the shelf for a while (this is an older laptop here).

Neither of the batteries they sent me worked at all. They wouldn't take a charge...the laptop acted like there was no battery installed. The company didn't seem willing or capable to explain this odd behavior but did process a full refund which was nice.

So now I'm wondering what I should do. I can find reasonably cheap OEM batteries on ebay and I can find affordable aftermarket batteries too but I'm not sure what's best. If aftermarket is better what are some good brands? Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction...

$42 - $55 seems good to me.

4400mAh is what I was supposed to get from the site that I tried first. I'm a bit gunshy about my next purchase though after having the 2 previous batteries completely not work at all. It's almost like I'm not sure that any new battery will work at all now (even though I know that's probably irrational).

Paypal has protection from getting defective products. Check the sellers feedbacks for your protection.
Higher ratings insure proper service. Send an email first to get seller's attention and help.

When all fails, then open a dispute console.
You can get full refund if you send in a dispute. Use the "item not as described" argument, it works everytime.
Never allow any defective buy sour your future transactions. The better rated sellers will always respond positively.

Be in control of the situation and remember, eBay and Paypal protects buyers/sellers.
