Laptop battery life question

Howdy all...I'm just looking for a straight answer on something. When using a laptop while plugged into an AC adapter, will it hurt the battery to leave it in? Or is it better to remove the battery (while fully charged I assume) while the computer is plugged in? I heard that removing it while plugged in extends the battery life...hope someone can clear this up.

Thanx,
Jazzman

P.S. One wierd thing, though, is that on my IBM Thinkpad, when it's running on AC power with no battery installed, Speedstep throttles is down as if it were just running on the atery. Any ideas?

Isn't it going to be a pain to remove the battery? If you want to leave it plugged in for a week or more go for it. Otherwise, don't worry about it, the battery life wont be hurt that bad.
