laptop battery going down waayyyy too fast.

so I have a hp laptop, and the battery on it usually takes about 2 hours to go down.

Ever since I modded my computer(by changing the *.dll files, and changing the desktop to a mac os style, and having desktopX on my computer all the time), my battery would go from 100% to about 20% in about 1 to 1.5 hours.

Is this normal? will modding the *.dll files effect the battery life? anything I can do?
 
The two batteries in my old Sony Vaio are at least seven years old and both work just as good as they did new. I wouldn't be surprised if you inadvertantly changed some power management settings when you were dinking around with your machine. Check in control panel.
