Laptop battery charge?

hiya.

my sister just gave me her old IBM T20 that's been sitting in her closet since 2-3 years ago.

i plugged it in and charged the battery for prob 3 hours or so. and it only held a charge for 5 minutes or so then it went into hibernation mode (off) argh...the screen said it had 1 hour charge on it. but then the warning just comes on and the laptop shuts down.
so my main question is. is there something wrong with the laptop or is the battery just dead?

is it possible to get a free battery from IBM? if not what's another option to get a battery for this t20.

thanks!

p.s. this laptop only has 128 megs of ram im planning on gettin a stick of 256 for it cause the manual says it can hold 512 total. anyone know what kind of ram I'll need?

IBM Shop online

just might be my observation but IBM batteries seem to go south quite easily. Just about all the T series cept for brand new like 40 etc seem to get crapy battery life.

Try leaving it on charge for 12 hours + if the problem remains then the battery is paper weight.

As for your ram question I would open the case up and grap the numbers off of the current module and match it on newegg.com
