Laptop audio thru receiver via HDMI quirks. Audio stops when screen shuts off.

Noticed some quirks with connection from my laptop to my new receiver. When i'm playing music via pandora or any audio player and my screen shuts off, the music stops outputting to the receiver. Only when i move my mouse and have the screen turn back on does the music start outputting through the receiver again.

It seems like this is happening because the video card controls the HDMI output of the laptop.
is there a way I can still have the screen shut off but still have audio output through the hdmi cable?

Hi,

I do have the same problems with my laptop and my receiver. I play some music, then my computer screen goes black and no sound anymore but when I move the mouse, the screen goes back on and the music is still playing but the receiver doesn't make any sound. Did you find any solution to it ? No clue elsewhere...

Thanks.

leave the screen on, unfortunately... or you can get a cheap HDMI switch on monoprice to trick the receiver.
