Laptop and wireless interference

I've had all sorts of problems on my new HP dv6526ea laptop with Vista .
1. It would appear that if I have the Wireless LAN on while using dial-up and other such connections , that this causes problems .
2. It would also appear that if I have a telephone base (( with antenna ) that serves other cordless phones in proximity ) , close to the laptop , that this also causes problems . The phone is of the old type ( not DECT ) .
Can some of you old hands out there , tell me if this is in fact the case , or that my WLAN on the laptop may be faulty ?
Thanks .
