Laptop and ps2 Mouse

I know this is probably a simple question but does a ps2 mouse use power from the batteries. I have noticed that when I use the mouse instead of just using the touchpad, my batteries drain quicker. It is a Dell 8100 and a logitech cordless wheel mouse (not optical).

Sorry, I guess it is early in the US. I am working in Prague temporarily so it is morning work here.

Well, according to the law of conservation of energy, the electronics inside the mouse must be powered somehow.. And since there is no other power source, it must be coming via the PS/2 connector.

Now, why the f*ck am I failing physics?! 🙂
