Laptop and Desktop Networking thru Firewire: where are the drivers?

I have a laptop with a built in 4 pin firewire port and connected it to my firewire on my desktop. The "New Hardware" pops up, but I can't find any drivers for the "Microsoft 1394 nic".

I've searched, and maybe someone here has it or knows where to find it

Win2k on the desktop and WinXP on the lappy...that's why it doesn't work (Win2k doesn't support it--> needs drivers)

There are no drivers. It should just show up in your network connections and you can assign it an IP address just like an ethernet NIC.

That's how it worked for me.
