Laptop advice i5, ~15in, good Graphics

Been looking for a while at laptops trying to find the perfect one.

The two I keep going back to are:

Lenovo Y550 $849.00
15.6" 1366x768 LED; Intel Core i5-430M Dual-Core @ 2.26GHz; 4GB RAM; 500GB HDD; DVD burner; 802.11n dual-band + bluetooth; Windows 7 Home Premium; NVIDIA Geforce GT240M 1GB; 6-cell battery; 1yr warranty

Decent yet im debating on both the brand and the video card.

HP Envy 15 $974.99
5.17lbs; 15.6" 1366x768 LED; Intel Core i5-430M @ 2.26GHz; 4GB RAM; 320GB HDD; 802.11n + bluetooth; Windows 7; ATI Radeon HD5830 1GB; webcam; 6-cell battery + 9-cell slim-fit battery; 1yr warranty

Pretty much sold on the HP Envy. I like the look the Graphics card is great.

Anyone have some other choices to compare? Advice on these to either from experience or things to watch out for?

Thx,
V

Sony E or F series?

Since you mention graphics the Envy is probably the way to go. Just read up on it...

What are you intending to use the lappy for?

You may also look into the Gateway NV59 series. 15.6" 1366x768, 4GB, Core i5, ATI Radeon HD 5650 1GB (pretty much a downclocked 5730, you can overclock this one to 5730 speeds), 5.8lbs. I think this video card is quite a bit better than the nVidia 240m in the Lenovo Y550 you listed yet a bit slower than the ATI 5830 in the HP Envy

I happen to have one for sale in my FS thread 😉

Asus is really making noise in Laptop section, so you may try them.. just google it and you'll never miss it 🙂

Wow, where are you getting that price on the Envy 15?

Here's the Envy link:

My main use for this laptop will be web surfing and gaming. Id like to have something portable so I dont want the extra size of the number pad some laptops have. I like the 15 or less in size.

However I have called HP and they confirmed the Envy 15 doesn't have a docking station with dual monitor out. This is another desire Id like. The ability to Dock at home and then go portable is important to me. Anyone have a universal dock suggestion that would work? This laptop does not have RGB(VGA) or DVI out only HDMI. Man Id have to get two new monitors to even support this ability...

So either back to the drawing board or buy a new single HUGE monitor. Ug...

Open to ideas...

What Asus Laptop would fit my needs anyone have some model numbers?

I would not recommend going with an HP. I went notebook repair shop hunting a few months back, and almost every shop i talked to said most of the laptop sent in for repair are HP and Compaq.
