Laptop advice (CPU / Screen)

I am going to be purchasing a Laptop in the next week or so and had a few questions regarding the specs.

I am going to be using the laptop for casual internet browsing/video/audio stuff as well as software development stuff (Visual Studio, SQL Server, etc), with some light/medium gaming (nothing like Crysis that requires serious hardware)

First off, I want to keep the size medium so I am going with a 15-inch. Would a 1900x1200 resolution be too tiny for that size monitor (therefore, should I select a 1440x900) instead?

Also, I am deciding between the following two CPUs:

Core 2 Duo T8300 (2.4 GHz, 3MB Cache)
Core 2 Duo T9300 (2.5 Ghz, 6MB Cache)

I think they're both on a 45nm process, however, does the extra $125 justify going ot the T9300, or can I easily overclock the T8300 to accommodate the difference between the two?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'd go for the higher resolution screen if possible. You might also want to note if the screen has the older CFL or newer LCD backlight. I've heard some really good things about the LCD backlights, mainly that they are much easier to look at in daylight and have better color reproduction.

If performance is your concern, I'd first max out RAM and get a 7200 rpm hard drive. After those upgrades, if you still want to drop an extra $125 on the CPU upgrade you can do that. Personally, I wouldnt try overclocking a laptop CPU.

If you're considering a Dell, check the Dell Outlet. You can save hundreds of dollars buying a refurb with a full warranty & money back guarantee, over buying one new. There's also a 15% Dell Outlet Inspiron & XPS laptop coupon out there for this weekend only.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. Where is the coupon for the Dell Outlet for this weekend? I see a few that are very appealing...
