Laptop accessing CD drive intermittently

Bought this used dell laptop 3 months back. Recently I find my CD drive being accessed on and off almost always, evnthough there is no CD inside. Therre is no firmware update available for the particular CD drive. Is there a way to correct this. :disgust:

It's probably just a background program checking for a cd in the drive, try shutting off autoplay with tweakUI for 98 or XP.
