Laptop 2.5" SATA HDD - can I plug it in into a desktop?

The SATA is obviously the same, the power cable fits. I think it will run fine, but googling does not help me find out for sure.

So, will it?

Yes it does, it works exactly the same as plugging in a 3.5 drive. I do it all the time when I have to clone laptop hdds.

Awesome, thanks guys.

That's damn convenient.

Especially if you're a silence junkie. No longer do we have to spend money on fancy convertors to fit a laptop drive into a standard PC. 😀
