Lapping a heatsink?

Hello, just got a my new taisol and wanted to know if lapping it down would be better for heat transfer. I am not using the thermal pad, I have arctic silver. Does anyone have any links on how to do it? Can i just use some sandpaper? Thanks
 
weird, i always thought the coloring or whatever they put on heatsink was some sort of finish for better heat transfer. and for the last page of that like, a 4.5degree diff on the CPU heatsink, thats gotta be BS, that cant be true
 
if u think lapping realy helps, why wouldnt heatsink companys not spray a finish on the heatsink so it would lower the temp right?
