Has anyone used LapLink with USB cables? I dont' need to transfer massive volumes of data between 2 win98 FE PC's, maybe 50MB at a time max, and would definitely be satisfied with the slower speed of USB compared with a 100baseT NIC. Any opinions re: USB laplink?

thanks,
AG

though it's slow, have you considered using DCC (direct cable connection) via ltp1 ports? all you'll need is the proper cable to connect the 2 pcs!

actually, if checked laplink.com and they offer a usb laplink cable for $30. Parallel is $15. I knew about parallel but prefer the speed of usb or higher. thanks for the input!

The USB xfer cable is a lot faster. We have them at the office.

I've been using a USB cable for file transfers (50-100meg range) for some time now and it works great. Got the cable from Onvia for something like 30 dollars.

Gabus-
do you need the actual laplink software of does win98FE inherently have the ability to "network" two machines with a direct USB connection?
thanks

Personally i'm very happy with 100basT:p I transfer gigs to my laptop to err encode divx:) If you look around you should be able to get a fast hub or switch for cheap.. but for just 2 pc's you can buy a special pc to pc ethernet cable:p That way you can get 100Mb/s for ~20bux. I'm assuming your laptop already has networking built in.

with this, just snap your fingers and 50MB is done:)
