My Samsung NP550P5C-S04IN notebook has the following specs :-
☻i5-3210M
☻6 GB RAM
☻GT650M 2 GB
☻1 TB hardrive @ 5400 rpm
☻15.6" screen with highest resolution 1600x900 matte display

While gaming (Farcry 3) at low to medium settings, MSAA off after 1-1.5 hrs GPU-Z records a constant temperature of 90 deg. Celcius. So I'm thinking on buying a lapdesk for good. But after going through market, I see that I could buy a 2-3 fan local branded cooler than a Cooler Master single fan cooler at approximately at the same price.

What do ya guyz think? will the local 3 fan one be better than single fan CM one?

Crack it open, remove the dust build up and replace the TIM on the CPU/GPU it has made a world of difference to my laptop.

Those laptop cooler stands don't really do anything unless they direct air to the intakes which doesn't happen on a lot of laptops.

If you are experiencing overheating issues now that you haven't experienced in the past, then it means the airflow inside your system is blocked. Clean out the dust and other particulate matter that has accumulated inside the laptop case over time.

Well my lappy is quite new, only a month old. So I dont think that much dust would accumulate so as to block air flow.

AMOF, heating issue has been there in samsung laptops. Yet I bought it as it gave me best specs at affordable price.

Well, the main matter is will any Lapdesk benefit me or not, though I'll try to clean the case today. Will vacuum cleaning do or should I use a clean cloth ?

From WIKI:

Thermal grease (also called thermal gel, thermal compound, thermal paste, heat paste, heat sink paste or heat sink compound) is a viscous fluid substance, originally with properties akin to grease, which increases the thermal conductivity of a thermal interface by filling microscopic air-gaps present due to the imperfectly flat and smooth surfaces of the components; the compound has far greater thermal conductivity than air (but far less than metal). In electronics, it is often used to aid a component's thermal dissipation via a heat sink.

I think it's worth pointing out that "cracking open" a laptop generally means voiding the warranty; not a great idea on a new machine.

So what are you guyz recommending ? Buying a Lapdesk - Yes OR No. I'm really serious about that temperature. I mean 90 deg. Celsius is no joke, atleast for me. It never happened on my gaming rig before. Yeah, I know it has got fans and greater air circulation but still those temperatures are starting to freak me out.

I would vote with yes... it may just be from elevating the laptop, but it should lower temperature a little. If you don't mind spending the money it may offer the lower temps that you desire, but it may not. I'd say for a new laptop with a warranty it would be better for you to do that, then reevaluate if the Thermal Paste needs to be swapped out, thus potentially voiding your warranty. Or contact Samsung (before or after the cooling pad purchase) about what they can offer as a solution to the heat issue?

Will do that ASAP. Then I think it would be better to have 2-3 fans rather than a single one. Thanx for the help guyz. :)
