I'm surprised they didn't at least shoot it, if not someone else.

Dumb to have it by that window like that, though.

Robotoki is a bunch of idiots for putting that mannequin next to a window, with a prop gun, over looking a street.

Bowling said the panic alarm was installed as a precaution to protect his team, "as game developers receive their fair share of death threats." He noted that Robotoki hasn't had any issues with threats, but it is something Bowling is familiar with from his days at Infinity Ward.
What the hell?

[...]pressed it on his way out because apparently when boys find buttons that they are unsure of, their first instinct is to push it.
Exactly! Buttons are meant to be pressed!:D

We did the same thing when my uncle moved in to his new house when we were kids. Saw the red button in the bedroom near the intercom and thought what was it for? After pressing it the alarm went off and taped message played but the line to the police had been disconnected. Everyone thought it was a bug or that the alarm was somehow tripped, we never confessed. Took about 15 mins for them to figure out how to turn it off.

This is my thought. The company set it up for free advertising.

I had to do a little digging, because everything seemed so off to me, nothing made sense.

Now it does.

Robert Bowling worked at Infinity Ward (before, and perhaps during, the restructuring). He was definitely present and very much in the thick of things (i.e. partially responsible) for the development of CoD:MW2.

Robotoki isn't involved at all with Call of Duty. In fact, they are not even directly involved with Activision (they are independent). I think it's simply a statue that reflects past achievements of those at the studio. Which is good, considering the other option is having absolutely nothing at all, as the studio itself hasn't developed a single game yet. ;)

What the hell?

The sad state of 1st world problems:
You got rid of my favorite weapon in this release? I SHOULD KILL YOU!
You added this and this perk? And yet, got rid of the best perk ever? I WILL KILL YOU!
You made MW3 like a map pack of MW2? I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVEN'T KILLED YOU YET!
... Oh this last achievement is impossible! I hate you guys! Fuck it, I am definitely sending you nasty packages now!

Fanboys can be a dangerous breed. Usually their just flaccid weaklings who couldn't even harm a flea, but sometimes they are definitely not right in the head and can do some damage.
That's about the kind of shit the major game studios have to deal with. I can only imagine the rabid fanboys EA has to deal with from time to time. I wonder how often they get any suspect packages and stuff in the mail.

But there do need to be some exceptions. For example, using the Wilhelm Scream in movies could easily be a capital offense.

Yahtzee, of Zero Punctuation Reviews, had an expected comment in (at least) one review, that the reason so much of the feedback is "We need multiplayer in every last god damn part of every game ever made!" is because the people with that mindset are more prone to be more vocal - so it's effectively selection bias. You pander to the noisiest ones, thinking that they truly represent your target audience. "The squeaky wheel never shuts up."

(I'm also not a fan of the trend toward making everything "cloud" linked, or purely multiplayer. Some of the point of playing a game is so that I can have that kind of fun without having to be reminded that other people exist.)

Oh the red buttons. You especially have to press the red buttons.
