Lap Top to PC

I have a lap top with a T1 line at work and a PC on a 56K modem at home. I would like to download files while at work to the lap top and transfer them to the PC at home. The lap top has a nic card (if that makes a difference). What would be the easiest/cheapest way to accomplish this? TIA

Get a network card and crossover cable for your home PC.

i agree a crossover cable is your cheapest bet, but according to your post, you don't have an ethernet card in your HOME pc. so there will be some added cost, but not much.

basically, using the ethernet card in the laptop is the ONLY way to get large amounts of info to a desktop pc (at least, the only way that it can be done at an acceptable speed!). this way , you could just leave the crossover cable plugged into the NIC in your desktop, and when you get home with the laptop simply plug in and drag and drop the files you want! it's nice having a T1 at work!

Thank you. Do I need a specific type of card? The card in the lap top is a Xircon

any old NIC would work in your desktop. linskys and d-link make some cheap ones , you can pick them up at any old office store or computer store.
