lap top prob

i start laptop and it gets to windows and then some what locks up, like its loading something but the hdd light does not come on and then the fan kicks on high and starts pouring out some hot ass air.

i tried to boot to safe mode but it froze loading the dlls and got the fan thing again.

it does a disk check and it says something about antivirus shit either missing or cant find.

is the hard drive toasted? or is it something else

i get to desktop with background pic missing and it takes forever to open a folder

USe the systems restore feature to restore the OS to its original factory settings. Try to back up your important information first. Now if things go bad again it may be the HDD is dieing off. If thats the case then you may want to just replace it.
