Is this a Win98 box? The LanDesk agent we use at my work is a montioring/hardware inventory/software deployment tool like Microsoft SMS and is loaded by the OS, not by the BIOS. The company Landesk used to be owned by Intel but is now their own company. The owner of this PII either bought the machine from an employer who used LanDesk at their work and didn't format the machine or they stole it or this is some piece of LanDesk software they no longer support and I am completely unfamiliar with. In any case it isn't needed and can be disabled. How it starts, depends on the OS. In NT it starts as a Service and can be disabled in the services control panel.
To uninstall it you need to run the wscfg32.exe file that was used to install it. This is usally stored on a network server which you won't have access to from home so you won't be able to uninstall it automatically. Manually delete the files and registry entries for it.
