That's a tidy looking Range Rover 😉

Big difference between the Range Rovers and the Land Rovers...

That said, I have no idea about anything other than they claimed to be superbly comfortable, quick, excellent off-road, and pretty sure-thing status symbol, as far as the motoring press and leafy suburbs set are concerned.

Clarkson loves them, if that helps. Sports are a considered a bit bogan, however...

EDIT: lol, steering wheel is on the wrong side 😉

What makes them cost this much, the name. They are a luxury brand and like most european cars are not very reliable.

There was a story recently about someone with one that wrote everything wrong with it on the side and parked it in front of a dealer as they would not fix it. The dealer called the cops but was told its parked legally. So since the police would not do anything they had to do a buy back and gave him a new one.

Found it...
Rover problems.

Land Rover is an image car. Sure, they're capable in theory, but most people who actually USED them either got Discovery or Defender models (before they were discontinued). The Range Rover was always about the image.

uhhh, clarkson loves them because he loves anything british. he's a biased mofo.

They are very capable, all time 4x4 vehicles. I had a 97 (?) Range and it was freaking tank. Mine still had Lucas electronics, so like half of power stuff didn't work... but it was very offroadey.

Also I averaged 13 mpg...

Not to thread-jack you but along the same line of cars that the Top Gear guys go nuts for that I just don't get, Alfa Romeo. Like the Land Rover they try and play these cars up like they're a status symbol but the things are terribly ugly. That weird shield shaped grill that they are putting on all of them now just ruins the front end on the car. I guess they're kind of cutting edge because of their styling and concepts on the rest fo the car, but I don't think I've seen an Alfa that I liked since the original two seater convertible spyder they built back in the 70's-80's.

My brother was considering one but was wary of their reliability and he was trading in an Audi.

He ended up with a new Land Cruiser for under $75K.

I test drove a brand new Range Rover Sport Supercharged. It was amazing. Would I buy one? No. Why? Because their reliability is sh1t.
