The Evo7/WRX are the same car.



The WRX is a tad faster.. I've seen a few good video comparisons. It comes down to personal choice really. Both are so, so nice.

Mitsubishi corp in soCAL has 2 JDMLancers that their people drive around sometimes. Right now, they are trying to get it as close to JDM as possible. but with the 5 mph bumper rule, they are removing the front mount intercooler and replacing it with 2 small sidemounts. The minimum HP would be 250, but they are "working" for 310. Coming out January this time, next year. under 30k, but they dealer may put a 5k markup(if Mitsubishi allows them to, they could put a cap on mark ups).

The guy I was talking to was hanging around the dealership wearing the RALLIART jacket and said he had driven the JDM version. I asked if it was hard driving stick left handed, he said not really, the tricky thing is the turn signle and wipers because they are switched.

Phuz, the WRX does not compare to the EVO 7. I think you are getting it confused with the STI version of the WRX. The STI will be coming out about the same time as the EVO 7.
the STI will have a stronger engine(270hp?) and a 6 speed transmission.

WTF? How the hell did you come to that conclusion? Why are the the same car?!

The EVO VII is Mitsubishi, WRX is Subaru...

...not to mention they look totally different.

The EVO 7 and the STi both clock in at 276hp to conform to Japan's 280hp limit...although there is some discreptency regarding the EVO's engine being either 276 or 280...

If they were, then neither would win. They'd be dead even. Geez...

I've driven the WRX STi and the Lancer EVO VII in Hong Kong...they are definetly not the same.

Another testemant to the "theoretical" HP marks in Japan is the Skyline. This thing is also marked at 276hp, but has tested at OVER 350.

The STI and the EVO, if they come stateside (there are NO CONFIRMED REPORTS, only rumor and hearsay at this point) will be toned down a bit from their Japanese brethren do to our Ommisions standards. The WRX in the states now has 3, yes thats THREE, catalytic converters on it. Tell me that doesnt restrict airflow... >>

I think CptObvious might think they are erally the same though.
That said, I like the EVO much much better than the WRX.
