Last i checked divorce was legal, and accepted by most religions. There is no news in this story.

The name Lance Armstrong sells media, therefore they ran a meaningless story about a mundane event.

Uh, NO. Name one western religion that accepts no-fault divorce. There always needs to be a valid reason for it (abuse, adultery, abandonment).
I doubt his wife or kids will ever be hurting for $$, but it's still bummer.

What the hell are you talking about? Of course religions want to justify allowing a divorce, but the fact is, that they DO recognize that divorce is a legitimate course of action.

My grandmother is a good, devout catholic. Her husband (my grandfather) cheated on her and left her with 5 kids (with her best friend, no less). They divorced. She eventually remarried.
Her second husband died. She started getting into going to mass and volunteering at church. Eventually she needed to have the priest forgive her for getting remarried becase her original divorce was never recognized by the church.

So no, not all religions recognize legal divorces. Some are more accepting than others, but the point you originally tried to make is 100% wrong.

Perhaps you should read more carefully.

The catholic church is the one reason I said MOST religions. Most as in more than half, but not all. As opposed to ALL, meaning as you put it, 100%.

If I recall correctly it was his wife that wanted to be seperated in Jan, she was the one that was going to file for divorce, IIRC. Theyve worked it out and its mutual.
