LAN with Win 2000 / Mandrake Linux 7.2???

I have been all over the net looking at places like Linuxnewbie.org, and others trying to learn about Networking Linux. Something so simple as connecting a LAN with three computers using Windows 2000 and Mandrake Linux is confusing me. What I simply want to do is allow my Linux Box to surf the net through my Windows 2000 box via AnalogX proxy plus have interconnectivity within the LAN. Now, my problem is I cannot ping from my Linux box and get a response from the Windows 2000 box, or vice versa. I can ping myself via Hostname and IP on the Linux box and obtain correct data. Here is how I am set up:

On Windows 2000 Computer:

Intel NIC assigned IP 192.168.0.1 subnet 255.255.255.0
Computer Name: Pentium
Workgroup: MYLAN

On my Linux Computer

Realtek NIC (eth0) assigned 192.168.0.30 subnet 255.255.255.0
Hostname: Athlon

I know a setting is off in my Linux Computer but I cannot find out what it is. Please help me connect my LAN, all suggestions welcome.
