Okay, about 3 weeks ago, I went to a LAN party and set up the network there.
Setup Diagram
During gaming the ping times were great. But FTP transfers (from computer to computer) were maxing out at only about 100k/s. Even when no one else was using the network. Loading webpages (these forums especially) loaded horribly slow. Early in the morning when I was one of the 3 people up, with only 3 computers even powered on, the net still ran VERY slow. What I am wondering is if it is my router or something else. Yeah I know, 14 computers running off of one cable modem is something @Home must have loved, but the net was usually only used for web page browsing. Ping times to computers in the same town that I can ping from home at about 40 ms were about 1200 ms.
Also, at home, when I use my router to connect to the internet, certain computers I can ping with ping times of 40. Others that are usually 40 ms skyrocket to 2500 and no response. It only happens when I connect to my router. Is my router defective?
