LAN Problems with an Asus A7N8X Deluxe

Im having 2 problems with my Motherboard. The 1st one is getting the on-board Lan connectors to work fully. I was having problems getting access to my home network thru the on-board LAN connectors, so I put a PCI Lan card from Kingston in it. It worked on the network for a few days and then it wouldn't allow communication on the network anymore. Im able to get the internet thru the network from the host computer. Me and my brother did ping tests on our various computers. We could ping the other computers on the network thru my computer. But when we tried to ping my computer from the other two PCs, which are functioning normally, it wouldn't receive or recognize it. We also used the packaged software for the 3com lan connector to do a hardware loopback test of the port and it multiple times reported that the port failed to recieve. We are thinking that the On-Board Lan connectors are bad and that I need to RMA the board. What would you suggest or think I should try?

The 2nd question I have is :
I have 2 sticks of Kingston 256MB 2700PC DDR 2.5-3-3-7-2T on this motherboard. The automatic detection of the frequency of this memory thru the POST is 166MHz. Is this what is suppose to be? If not how do I modify it to run at the full frequency?

For Misc. Info I am using a 2100+ XP.

Thanks for any help you might have!

I use both my onboard LAN's, one for internet and the other for my network to my other system and they work great, I don't think the problem is the LAN.
DDR 2700 is 333 speed, so 166 is the right setting, it's doubled to 333.

Easy one first... you should run your memory at PC2100 speeds so it's synchronous with the CPU, or run the CPU at PC2700 speeds so it's synchronous with the memory (if you feel ready to tackle overclocking, that is). Synchronous is the way to go, the system performance will suffer more from out-of-sync operation than from running the memory at PC2100 speeds.

Now about the networking... this is not likely to be a hardware problem. Describe your whole network topology. What device assigns Internet Protocol addresses and how many does it have available? What operating systems do all these computers have, and if it's WinXP, is its firewall up or down? Any antivirus software that might have a firewall feature?

Problem Solved at leat with the PCI Kingston Lan Card. Pc-Cillin Firewall was in place. I still cant get the On-board Lan connectors to work though. Thanks for the help!
