LAN party at school: insurance

I just talked to a school admin today about hosting a lan at the high school, and she gave me a district form to fill but said we'd need to get some insurance to cover everybody. I didn't think this would be such a big deal, but I told my mom and she did a quick search for event insurance and came up with somebody talking about a swing dancing event they held at the high school where the insurance quote was $530! Does anybody know about getting event insurance for lans, and where to get it, and what prices are like?
thanks.

A lot of stuff showed on google, try looking through those. I didn't even know they had this kind of thing!

Insurance isn't something you can overlook though. If your LAN party is non-profit, then some insurance companies will insure you for as little as $1/person. At least that's the way it is around here.

$1/person?!?! wow! that would be great. I'm going to look into it more tomorrow when I have time, and I'll also try calling the district office that's in charge of facilities use and see if they know of some companies to look at. I was thinking though, one good thing I have going for me is that there's clearly no risk at all involved if people are just sitting in chairs the whole time with no alchohol or any of that. Hopefully that should make for a lower insurance rate.

Hmmm I'm not sure who all the insurance companies grant that rate to. I know that they do to nearly all 4-H clubs.
Call someone for details.
