Lan Parties

i started them. then, when everyone copied me, i stopped having them.

<--- trendsetter

usually in a garage or a room at school. a big room.

Most major cities have an establishment called "The Lan Party Place." Kind of like Chuck E. Cheeses, but w/o all the little kids. You go and they have all these systems setup. You pay a flat fee and you get to game against your buds.

Most of the newer places have most of the latest games too.

Why would I want to pay to play games with friends. Just get together with them at someone's house and go nuts.

You obviously missed the sarcasm in my post.

Usually every other weekend at one of my friend's houses. Most of the time we get 10-12 people together... sometimes up to 16 people. We usually play HL mods.. FireArms lately.. then swap files for a while... a good time is had by all.

EDIT: in fact.. got one tonight 😀

ok so the reason I'm asking is that, my friends and I get togather and do it about every other month for about four days. It's usually at my place because I love to cook as much as I love to game so I cook for everyone one. I was wondering if it would be a good business to start cooking for home lan parties?

What do you think?

In the dorm, every day is a lan party. 🙂

I concur.. The only place I ever get to study at is some cafe nowadays.. If I'm near any electronics, I get too distracted.. ahh!

Never heard of it.

say what!? 😛
He's just kidding. He would have attended our most recent gig, but his wife had organized a tupperware party or something that he couldn't get out of (or didn't want to? 😛 )

/runs away

I'm part of a team that does big ones... and I mean big. The only problem is that they are a pain to finance and organize so we aren't going to do them that large anymore. The largest we did was 2500 people in July 2000, last year we hit 1100 in April but that was the last large one for our team => all fed up and stressed out. Now we will just kepp to the 200 - 500 range which is much easier to manage 🙂

All events go over the entire Weekend: Friday evening to Sunday midday.

I do the Multimedia part with a few other guys (Video and Sound Systems). Wouldn't want to be a part of the network crew... by the 2nd day they are ready to tear anybodys head off that complains without a VERY good reason 😉

PICS:

the 2500 peeps Darkbreed Breaking Normality 2000 1
DB-Breaking again (there are many more) (this one has pics with the Network backbone and servers) 🙂

Last years Project:Unreal with over 1000 people (yep, we had Infogrames (UT2003 publishers) as one of the sponsors) - this is a zip file!! -

Well, me and the guys from the site we work for (see sig) and our friends generally throw LAN parties togethers every couple months. We usually have about 6-16 PC, along with 2+ Networked XBoxes, Gamecubes, and PS2s, not to mention lots of TVs.. haha.. but yeah, it's a great time to sit back and relax with friends.

Oh yeah, and our LAN Parties usually last 24 hours or so... if not very close and late into the night, we're actually having one this coming weekend 😀 I can't wait.

When I was a senior in high school, I used to go to lan parties at my friend's house on base every weekend. I'd get there Friday, and leave Sunday. My dad could hang out with his friends on the weekend, and I got to hang out with mine. Everybody wins.
