I am having a problem with a new machine on my LAN. I have 4 machines on a lan, using a 8 port hub. 3 machines work ok on the lan the 4th machine (new one) works only partially. I can ping from machine A to b, c, d. cannot ping back from b, c, d, to A.
Win 98 and one machine 98SE with ICS installed and rest of machines ICS client installed. Last evening the LAN worked OK until I rebooted the new machine (machine A) now can only ping one way. Any suggestions will be appriciated except use Linux I tried that and to complex for me.
Thanks

After you rebooted the mcahine, could it still get out to the Internet? Are you running ANYTHING firewall-like on that machine?

Is the address still the same? Not 169.x.x.x? (i.e., did you check that the DHCP address was serverd up...or are you using static IPs?)

FWIW

Thanks for the reply. I figured it out. I am using zone alarm and found even if it is shut down it will kill my LAN unless I set it to pass the range of addresses that I use on my LAN. Did not have the problem on the other machines. I learned a good lesson here.
Thanks again
