Here is the situation;

DLINK 3001 ADSL Modem and a DLink DI-604 Router. Just at random I will be on the computer and the little network symbol in the Windows Task bar will show Network cable unplugged. Nope, haven't touch it. And then in a few seconds it states Network connected.

My actual internet connection is not lost per say, at least according to the little light on the ADSL Modem, bu my Router lights do flash and go out and then back on.

Is this a virus? Or something else.

Thanks in advance!

For what it's worth, I've never heard of a virus that disables/re-enables your net.

I'd hazard a guess that you've got a problem with the DLink router. The router is burping, and that's when your pc thinks it's disconnected. If you want to test it, plug your pc directly into your dsl modem and see if your net ever drops out. Of course, it may not be happening frequently enough to make this convient... And everyone else on your disconnected router will be pissed that they can't access the internet...

LOL. Thanks Toxic Waste. Kind of confirmed my thoughts, but still curious as to why things are being so silly.

Oh well.... Routers are cheap these days.

sounds liek it is a problem with the router. i doubt its a virus since the dropped connection appears to be happenign out of your computer.

if youw ant you coudl try another router, might be easiest solution
