LAN Internet Access Quandary

I recently started having problems with my home network, where by certain applications are unable to connect to the internet. I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless broadband router that I'm wired into (aka not a wireless connection) using DHCP. My aol instant messenger, Musicmatch cd lookup, and other minor applications are unable to access the internet; while Internet Explorer, WSFTP, MSN Messenger, Outlook, etc. are all able to. I've tried reinstalling the problem apps several times to no avail. The real perplexity comes from the fact that I use Trillian Pro, and it is able to connect to the aim server using the same ports and host as specified in AIM itself, and perhaps even more confusing is that I have a roomate who is able to use all the applications that cause me problems with no troubles whatsoever. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks,

Andy

OH, and yes I have disabled XP's Firewall, and have no other firewall's running.

Engineered my own fix. To anyone else having a similar problem I suggest using a spyware/adware remover, as these programs often change the WINSOCKS settings affecting your internet connection. Removing them fixed my problem and hopefully yours too.
