LAN games on SMC barricade?

Is there a website someone can reccomend on how to set up a lan game. i would be plaing midtown madness, quake3, and Aoe2.

do i need to do annything or just go into the game and click lan connection.

i havent tried yet... the 2nd computer isnt connected to the router yet.

The barricade works ok. i think it is slower than direct cable modem w/ one person. is this possible or has my cable speed gone down? thanks

you are going to have to forward which ever ports the particular game runs on.
Yes, then barricade is kind of laggy when gamming compared to a direct connection.

The Barricade seems to have high Latency, that's the main reason I bought the Linksys 'cause it screams, I can't even tell the difference.

hmmmm thanks for your replies.

i wish i knew that the smc was slower before i baught it. i had heard that but i thought that it was only for high traffic networks.

i got static ip's for both the computers now, (the second computer is hooked up) and i will say that the smc Tech support is AWSOME.

u do have to wait to talk to them but they are very helpful.

I have a smc and a cable connection. At first I had it plugged into my hub allowing two systems to get IP's from the local RR office. Then I had trouble getting both on and decided on the smc barricade. I had a 100MB hub and all 10/100 cards in place so I was hesitant to go down to just 10MB. When I got my Barricade my network became fast and rock solid. I have had experience with linksys, cisco, 3COM, Netopia, and netgear. The SMC is still the best deal in my opinion. I don't play games much, but I download at up to 400k/s.
