i will give you a slap on the face if you will compare Dota to HoN 😛. Try dota to play and believe me it's worth the effort of learning!

Well it's the closest game to dota on the market atm. Though I wouldn't recommend any dota-style game for LAN gaming unless all participants were familiar with the genre. It's got a very steep learning curve (hundreds of heroes/items/skills combinations to memorize)
 
I keep seeing Urban Terror recommended. What makes it better than something like CSS?
It's free.

If that's not enough, it's much faster paced than CS, you respawn during rounds, and it's just more hectic. It's the type of game that would be perfect for a LAN deathmatch.

DoTA isn't that hard to learn, and it's fun picking it up. If you do a decent job at balancing your teams, new players should still have a good time. That being said, I've had people tell me that LoL is more forgiving and noob friendly.
