I m currently using two computers in my office, both ve Win XP Pro SP2 and I updated these with Autopatcher October edition also.

I m using a ADSL router for internet connection which s 4 port Mercury 2+ ADSL router.I designated IP's of both computers manually like :

Router as gateway 192.168.1.1

PC1 192.168.1.4

PC2 192.168.1.5

Their default gateway is 192.168.1.1,and both computers subnets and networks re same(255.255.255.0,MSHOME).

Under workgroup icon in network connections ,I can see the PC2 from my computer, but when I double click on it ,its alerting with this notification :

"\\PC1 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource.Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

Access is denied."

I can ping both machines but I just cant share files and printer. What should I ve to do ?

You do not have privilege to modify or change the adminstrator settings on PC2.
You do need to login the OS as an adminstrator, then enable the sharing on PC2.

You need to have the same exact username and password on each of the computers.

Computer1\Joe tries to access \Computer2 and if there is no \Joe account, Computer2 says access denied.
