LAN Connection Problem

I'm setting up a home network next month and I'm trying to get my PC ready for it. Anyway, since I got my new motherboard and hard drive, in about January 2005, the LAN Connection icon by the clock has the caution symbol and its status is "Limited or no connectivity." I'm on DSL and the internet is working great. Is this a problem of some sort?

are you using ethernet port or the (on some modems) usb port..?

you can try (DOS) running xp go "Start" "Run" type cmd then ipconfig /renew

also could be the ethernet cable,tcp/ip stack or just need to uninstall in device manager the nic and allow windows to refresh the hardware/software with a reboot...gl
