Alright I have a 3com Fast Etherlink XL PCI 10/100base-tx Ethernet card and windows recognizes it and installs some generic driver cuz I don't have the real one and I can't find it or get it to work when I do dload it. So anyways it works and everything its just that if I play a game say like Soldier of fortune 2 I always get disconnected like 10 minutes into the game and if I just leave it without doing anything like 20 min later it stops responding until I restart my comp.Any help would be appreciated.

My main problem I think is that it will just stop responding, meaning I can't connect to web sites AIm or whatever until I restart my comp, when this happens my comp is extremely laggy, I will right click on my lan connect and maybe like 2 min later it will bring the menu up.

Look at the IRQ list, and see if the NIC is having an IRQ by itself, or hat list sharing with a friendly device (USB is IRQ wise friendly, Video is bad).

Click on Control Panel /System and remove the current NIC Drivers.

Switch off the computer, take out the NIC. Reboot.

Look again at the Control Panel /System Properties, and make sure that there is no Ghost installation related to Network Hardware, if there is remove it.

Switch off again. If the NIC had a good IRQ assignment put it back in the same slot, otherwise insert it in a different slot (do not use the slot next to the AGP Video Card).

The computer will detect the NIC, and hopefully will let configure every thing correctly.
