A friend of mine wants me to setup a little network to share the internet and a printer or two betwwen his two computers. I just did this with two 2k machines and it was a breeze, is this as straight forward, or am I going to run in to all sorts of problems?
I want to help out my friend but dont want to spend more than a couple hours on this. What is the consensus on this sort of job, it involves installing network cards in both computers 🙂)recommendations anyone- ease of install is key🙂?) The thoughts of the collective Anantech Forum will be greatly appreciated.

1.) Enable HD and printer sharing on both PCs
2.) Right click on the devices to share and enable sharing on both PCs
3.) Enable Netbeui On both PC and bind it to Netbeui.
4.) Connect your PCs to the hub with straight thru cat5 cables
5.) you should be all set.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you could skip a hub or switch, and just use a crossover cable between the computers... but if he plans on adding more computers to this network, a switch or hub would be the way to go. Do basically as caballo said, but you'll want to use tcp/ip also if you ever plan to play any games.
