For that much you better be sure they are worth it. People get taken all the time for "antique" stuff.

Originally gas lamps? They look pretty cool. They're worth exactly what you think they're worth. If you think it'll add $450 of enjoyment to your house, then it's worth it. Compare the price to what it would cost to get new lamps of the same quality. I'd be inclined to get the antiques. Stuff was just nicer back then.

If they truly are vintage & not reproductions, that price looks (to me) to possibly be a bargain.

I was thinking that too. $450 sounds cheap for a pair of lamps, but I have no idea what something like that sells for.

they should easily be worth 450, even if they are reproductions. getting something in that style, new, would run around 400 each if you find a decent one with a good amount of weight to it. just try to pick one up, if theyre heavier then all hell, 450 for both should be a good deal. i know at lowes, we sell a few like that, but theyre much smaller then those are and cost roughly 200-400 each.

if you think theyd look good outside your house, go for it.

I don't know what the weight is, but they're incredibly heavy.

That is definitely a good deal, especially if they are already updated with electrical and it works. The lamp appears to be a medium base incandescent. There shouldn't be a ballast involved with that setup, so you just need to bring power to the socket.
