Streetside not curbside? Haha what a lame ticket. They should fire some school teachers or firemen or raise taxes to make up for blowing loads of money on stupid bureaucrats and entitlement programs.

If I was checking receipts I wouldn't want to have to walk out into the street. I see no problem with the ticket.

They need to get their money some place. You can only increase taxes so much before people riot.

I agree it's a lame ticket but this is undoubtedly the reason there is such a fine. It does makes sense if you think about it. Everything makes more sense if you take the time to look at it from the other persons point of view (not enough people do these days). Forcing the ticket checker to walk around the other side of the car into the street could be potentially dangerous if he had to do it all the time.

unless if it was said somewhere that it had to be on drivers' side or curb side or whatever, he shouldn't of gotten a ticket i think.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be shocked to see that as an excuse for ticketing here. They ticket left and right at random sometimes, despite proper display of permits just to generate money for the county. It gets to a point where people don't even bother contesting the ticket, because they're forced to take days off just to go to court.

Now that you know how anal they are, I guess you will just have to take it as a lesson learned :(

Probably due to the economy. From what I know an officer that gives out more tickets gets better performance reviews, and thus more job security.

Woah that's expensive. I got a ticket for parking at a 2 hour meter, for 5 hours, and only had to pay 7 bucks. My first parking infraction. :( I was clean before that incident.

Seattle uses those terminals mounted in one location for the whole block if I'm not mistaken. I've seen these in other locations like some private lots in Chicago and a few lots on the California coast. If this parking system is setup like the at least 4 others that I have seen it has a sign right above where you pay that says "ticket must be placed XXXXXXXX."

I work in a very safety sensitive environment and we do everything that we can to limit the exposure of our employees to unsafe acts. As a manager I would look at this as several small unsafe acts that are unnecessary and avoidable. Stepping down from a curb, chance of falling. Stepping out from in between cars, possibility of being hit by a passing vehicle. Stepping back up onto the curb, chance of tripping.

Some of you might say, "how can you possibly say that is unsafe" or "that's too trivial" but in my situation ANY unsafe action that can be avoided entirely results in less lost time injuries. 30,000 unsafe acts, 3000 close calls, 300 incidents, 30 injuries, 1 fatality.

All that being said, that's a lot of money for something so trivial (and probably a first offense).

That is cheap. I work in Bethesda, MD and the tickets start at $35 if you're at an expired meter. If you're there long enough, they'll come around and ticket you a SECOND time too!

It probably says where to place the parking ticket on the machine it gets printed from.

Ewww.. I just saw one of those the other day for my expired tabs on a beater parked in Seattle. $38. It was only parked there for 2 days in an unrestricted space so they must be going around to every car in the city checking.

LOL that's kinda funny, and sad. I can just picture a car that's been there over a long weekend with like 5 tickets at the windchill lol.

But yeah here it's like 7 bucks if you pay within 48 hours, then its like 15 (can't recall the exact amount).

But yeah here it's more like "crap I got a ticket" and not more then that.
