What's the lamest ending to a movie you've ever seen?

My vote for "It was so lame it was bad"

The end of the movie Volcano when the little boy was looking at the crowd of people all covered in ash and saying, "They all look a like." I don't recall having a metaphor so thoroughly shoved down an audiences throat.

My vote for "It was so lame it was funny"

The ending of the movie Staying Alive with John Travolta. At the end of the movie, his character, Tony has successfully performed his first professional dance production on Broadway. He is walking out of the back of the building when the love interest asks him what he's going to do now.
Tony: "I'm gonna strut."

He then proceeds to walk off in this goofy looking strut.

All of Michael Chrichton's movies.

It seems like he has so many good ideas for books but he gets bored of writing them near the end and makes a lame ending just to finish it.

Spielberg is the king of lame "Hollywood" endings. AI and Minority Report both ran for 20+ minutes too long (and please, I know there are legions of rabid Spielberg fans waiting to jump all over me for "not understanding" the meaning of the AI ending....give it a rest, will ya?).

So you're admitting, on a public forum no less, that you watched both of these movies in their entirety? You are a brave, brave man.

I watched this movie on tv at like 2am. It was called "Hell in the Pacific"...some 60s WWII movie about a US pilot and Japanese pilot who crash on the same deserted island. The movie was seriously long and there was little dialogue because these two guys didn't have a common language. Anyway...they go from enemies to friends and make a raft to get off the island. They float and float for days and finally make it to another island. They find an old bombed out hospital there where they clean themselves up. They find a bottle of saki and get drunk while they talk with each other (even though they can't understand each other) to celebrate getting off the island. All the while, you can hear some faint explosions in the distance. All of a sudden, after 3 hours of watching this movie, an artillery shell lands right on top of the two guys, they die, and the words "The End" appear on the screen!! :Q Worst ending ever!!

Not voluntarily ;) I was forced to watch Volcano with my wife and Staying Alive with my older sister when I was stuck inside one day and the older sibling had rule of the TV.

I have a pretty good bad movie instinct and it went off immediately with both of those. :) My lil-bro-in-law spent money on Queen of the Damned and then told me he wish he had listened to me before he rented it and wasted his time and money.

LOL...I remember seeing that once now. It had Lee Marvin (of Dirty Dozen fame) in it. I had the exact same reaction at the end of that movie!

The Patriot. You have a great movie, good acting, good character development, good story line, great conflict between hero and villan. Then you just sum up a few years of war in 5 minutes? WTF?!?!?!

Lamest:
- Boogie Nights (WTF, we only have that one short scene with Heather Graham and then you shove a cock in our faces?)

So lame cuz you wanted more:
- Pulp Fiction. Nuff said...

One of the best endings EVAR:
- Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels :)

FORGOT! Lamest endings by genre:
- Bollywood 'masala' Hindi films...

I haven't seen the movie, but that's EXACTLY what I thought after reading "The Andromeda Strain!"

Ahh....the old "My Wife Made Me Watch It" excuse.....how original. ;)
