Hrm, throw Banks in, and that's actually pretty good for the Lakers. Fox is ready to retire too.

Grabbed this off of another forum.

WEEI is reporting that the Celtics, Lakers, and the NBA are close to finalizing the Gary Payton trade. According to WEEI, the trade could be official within the hour.

The Celtics would receive:
Gary Payton
Rick Fox
Lakers' 2005 First Round Draft Pick
Cash

The Lakers would receive:
Chucky Atkins
Chris Mihm
Marcus Banks
Celtics' 2005 Second Round Draft Pick

Bingo thats it

Its been widely reported that Danny Ainge wants Shareef Abdur-Rahim ... could he be next?

Paul allen doesnt want to trade him. Now Shareef is angry because he was promised a trade.

that is a great trade for the Lakers - Marcus Banks is an electric athlete at the point - there may not be a faster guy with the dribble in the NBA right now.

Shareef is a very expensive backup though...they should move him if they can

This really sucks for Payton. He exercised the option so he would have another chance with the lakers and now they diss him. Looks like Boozer fever is spreading among management now. Oh wait, we all knew nba management was shysters all along.

Banks and Atkins can both guard the Tony Parkers and Troy Hudson type of guards that used to kill the Lakers. Mihm I haven't seen enough of I just hope this he's not Travis Knight Reloaded. The pick hopefully is in the mid to late 20's so the swaping of picks with Bostons mid 30's second round pick is not too much of a drop off. THe killer is that Karl Malone is more then likely gone and no vet is going to want to come to LA ever again knowing that they might just get shipped out to a Eastern Confrence nobody.

don't forget Chucky Atkins did a good job as starting PG for the Celts. 12 pts 5 asts.

with LA's young, athletic lineup Chucky (and Banks) will be a good fit, IMO.

He exercised his option because he knew no team was gonna pay him $5 million bux for an over the hill PG that got torn apart during the playoffs.

Atkins is a decent shooter. Fox is finally going back to Celts.

Well as a Celts fan all i can say is that it looks like Celtics are picking up caproom for the 2005 season. This year should be interesting though.

Looks like a good trade for both sides. You can just tell Payton wanted to go Sprewell on Kobe's ass sometimes last season. Strange. Players like Divac and Fox returning to the teams that drafted them. Kinda like old folks returning home during their last days.

I kind of like the Laker's new look..

Banks/Kobe-Atkins/Rush - their #1 pick, Vujasec, or however you spell it..
Vlade/-Grant/Mihm/
Odom/Butler - Walton/Medvedenko

Very athletic team

Anybody know anything about this Sasha Vujasfsdfwatever guy the Lakers drafted?
Read some writers compare him to Brent Barry. It'll be pretty sweet if this is true.

This shiZ wouldn't have happen if Jerry West is still the GM of the Lakers. Kupchak does suck. With all these crazy things happening right now, it's going to be hard for the Lakers to land any future big name free agent.
