Lair developer rips Warhawk's "forced" motion controls

"Warhawk's controls are... eurgh!," Eggebrecht told us with a shudder. He explained that while motion-sensing felt the perfect way to convey the feeling of controlling a dragon in Lair, he believed the kinetic technology in PS3's Sixaxis controllers shouldn't be used just because it's there. "I see motion-sensing as a complimentary, additional new step in terms of controls and where it fits you should use it and where it doesn't fit, don't force it. Please don't force it."

I think the 4.9 IGN review pushed him off the deep end.

EDIT: Wow, I don't know what the heck I did when I tried to link.

warhawk controls are pretty much perfect if you ask me....quite btching and get a game that gets better ratings... i have yet to try lair. but warhawk has great motion controls

Thats not a "rip". Its simply his opinion on the matter.

btw, if you have problems controlling in Lair... you just stink.

Obviously, it's an opinion. Just as any praise or condemnation of anything is an opinion.

How exactly do you interpret someone saying "eurgh!" while shuddering?

Since you failed in your last attempt in the other thread...

A rip to me is someone saying how awful the game is, going into some kind of detail. Saying, "eurgh!" about the controls is nothing more than showing the frustration using them. I certainly dont see it as a rip, in any shape or form. But I guess you wanted headlines, and negativity about anything PS3. Not going to be getting any more hits from me on this thread.

He's obviously not complimenting the game's controls.
This isn't a "bash the PS3" thread so much as a "bash a developer of Lair for commenting upon another games controls when the game he was involved with had even worse controls" thread.

*disclaimer: I have played neither of these game so all my judgments are based off reviews.

If by "failed" you mean I failed to teach you Philosophy 105 - BASIC LOGIC, then yes, apparently I failed. I made my point as clear as possible and you did nothing to refute it. Let it be known that I don't count my posts as "victories" and "failures" as you apparently do, but I was hoping your non-response was something finally sinking in and we could all live happily ever after once you realized the basic flaw in your analogy.

But I guess you wanted headlines, and negativity about anything PS3.

I have nothing against the PS3. I plan to own one when they hit $300. This was simply a funny, ironic quote from an out-of-touch individual. You are the one playing the Sony crusader throughout the console forums.

Not going to be getting any more hits from me on this thread.

:brokenheart:

Yeah, and based on controls alone xplay gave Lair a 2, and gave serious thought about giving it a 1 except the game wasn't bugged/broken in any way that would prevent you from completing it, if you could stand dealing with the controls.

But the guys here are just making things up.

I found myself willing to use the motion controls in a warhawk, but then when I realized they applied to things like the jeep and tank, I quickly turned them off.

I remember when first trying motorstorm with motion sensor it was hard but it was fun so I stuck with it.
And eventually I got better. And cuz its hard it makes it more challenging and real.
