I'm one of the stats now.

What sucks is I left of job of complete security for this higher paying, higher freedom gamble. And I lost.

A buddy of mine has not been able to find work for the past 6 months. I'm meeting him tonight to try and prep him for an interview at my work.

sorry to hear that man....goodluck....I seriously see this economy as a rude awkening though. Seize your moment and make something of it!
 
you guys that are looking for work consider mass transportation. Lots of ET/mechanical jobs. Modern LRV/heavy rail systems have lots of jobs maintaining the trains / Way Side equipment and track infrastructure.

I was out of work for like 7 months because my industry (housing) obviously is not in good condition but I've been working for a couple months and it feels good to work again.

I somehow got into non-mass transportation a month ago. If I didn't want a job for money and experience, I'd dump this purely out of ideological disagreements.

Wasn't laid off, but was stuck in limbo as a temp for over half a year and it sucks. Oh well, at least you have something to sell.

likely. Been 8 months and the position has been filled (twice in fact). I had to interview both people too. Long story there.
 
I find it sad that after talking to the unemployment office they close their conversation with "have a good day!"
